Happy Number Nine

Scottie turned nine yesterday! Oh, I can see the years contiuously whisking by. It makes me sad in one sense. In another, it makes me anxious to know my future. He is truly just maturing so abundantly. Don't get me wrong....he has his days where he acts like your typical third grader, but the wisdom in his youth out-weighs the too big for his britches moments.

This year is a little special. Last year his birthday had come and gone, then we threw him a birthday party the following weekend. The celebration was on a Saturday and two days later I had Lincoln. For ease of convenience, we decided to do a combination party for our out-of towners. But the main factor that won me over in this decision, is that Scottie first thought of it and requested it. I love that he adores his little brother SO much and is willing to share the spot light.

Well, what would a birthday party be without pictures and an invitation? I had to do my motherly duty in making sure those tasks were completed. And all I have to say is....Mission Completed! I love the way it all turned out!

Scottie had a fun-filled birthday. It started with school....come on now, we all know that is a party in itself! I thought about stealing him and taking him out to lunch, but of course... my brain works the best after the fact. I brought treats to his class and his classmates were definitely loving him for that. Afterward when he got home, we had some family over for cake and ice-cream and gave him a few presents. Scottie has been working diligently, trying to earn his Wolf in scouts. One of the last requirements, which we found out later is just an elective, is to attend a play or something similar. His grandma and grandpa planned a surprise to go to the play "Welcome Back Potter" at Desert Star on his birthday. I'm pretty sure he had a wonderful day and hopefully it will be a memorable one. Next we're preparing for his big party on Saturday.
Another year has come and gone. You're growing into a young man and soon I won't be able to call you my little boy anymore. Thank you for the gift you gave to me.... the gift of motherhood.
We love you Scottie!
Happy Birthday!
